Magic Kingdom creates a two day shortcut to Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade

Magic Kingdom adds a 2 p.m. Christmas parade on Nov. 10 and 11, giving regular guests a rare no party ticket viewing window.

Magic Kingdom is making an unusual November switch that lets regular daytime guests watch Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade without buying a Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party ticket. The change takes effect Tuesday, November 10, and Wednesday, November 11, when the parade is scheduled for 2 p.m. and Disney Festival of Fantasy is no longer listed in its usual afternoon spot.

What changed, and when

Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade is normally a nighttime offering during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, which requires separate admission on select nights in November and December. Daytime runs usually do not begin until the Christmas and New Year’s Eve period.

For November 10 and 11, regular Magic Kingdom guests will be able to see the holiday parade during park hours instead. Both performances are scheduled for 2 p.m.

The schedule change also points to Disney’s annual holiday television production. The parade dates line up with the usual filming window, and Festival of Fantasy is off its normal afternoon schedule on both days. ABC has not announced this year’s holiday special air dates. Last year, The Wonderful World of Disney: Holiday Spectacular aired on December 1, and the Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade aired on December 25.

Who it affects inside Magic Kingdom

The biggest win is for guests who want the Christmas parade without paying for a party ticket. The show includes Disney characters, festive floats, holiday music, and Santa Claus.

It also changes the afternoon for anyone who planned around Festival of Fantasy, since that parade is not scheduled at its usual time on November 10 or 11. Visitors focused on attractions and easier movement through the park may want to factor in possible parade congestion, especially on Main Street, U.S.A., and around the hub in front of Cinderella Castle. November 11 also falls on Veterans Day, which could affect attendance.

The parade typically starts in Frontierland next to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, travels through Liberty Square, circles the hub, and then heads down Main Street, U.S.A. Guests should be prepared for possible cameras and crew along the route. Frontierland and Liberty Square may offer more space than the castle and Main Street viewing areas.

Why Disney fans may want to watch closely

These two performances open a rare mid-November viewing window for one of Magic Kingdom’s best known holiday parades, well before the late December stretch when daytime showings are more common and crowds are typically heavier.

Guests hoping to catch it should arrive early and check the My Disney Experience app before heading out, since entertainment schedules can change.
