McDonald's Vegan Cheese Scandal Has Hit The Internet and Customers Will Not Give Up

McDonald's vegan menu drama is not usually the kind of thing that takes over TikTok, but this one did. A customer kept trying to order a vegan sandwich with regular cheese, and each attempt seemed to run into a new roadblock. He kept documenting the back-and-forth, and the situation only got stranger when McDonald's eventually stepped in.

By the end, he got the order he had been chasing all along, and the internet had plenty to say about it. Here's the full story.

This TikToker is a vegetarian, but not a vegan, and wanted to order McDonald's vegan burger.

Now, this wouldn't have been an issue, but he asked for regular cheese on the burger, and McDonald's just did not want to give him what he was asking for.

The McDonald's employee informed him that he could not order regular cheese on the burger, even if he requested it separately. The manager's response was that he knew he would put regular cheese on his vegan sandwich.

The manager was obviously worried about the TikToker showcasing his regular cheese on his vegan burger. Here's what he had to say:  “Because if you plaster it all over social media, I’ll get fired. I’ve got a wife and kids. I’m not getting fired over a slice of cheese.”

It seems that the manager was just following directions and was concerned about getting into trouble.

Eventually, a McDonald's employee saw his videos and did end up selling him the cheese separately.

Here's what McDonald's had to say about it:

“Our McPlant is a Vegan Certified product, and we understand that the team member was following our advice to restaurants, which is not to customize the product with non-vegan ingredients to protect its integrity.”

They added: “However, we accept that the guidance may have been misinterpreted on this occasion, and the restaurant team has been made aware. We’d encourage the customer to contact our customer services.”

Well, there is a lot of controversy here! We're so glad that this TikToker eventually got what he wanted, but we are surprised at how many attempts it took.

I mean, McDonald's even had to step in for him to get the cheese he was asking for. However, we don't blame the manager for just doing his job and taking orders from corporate.
