It's nothing new; we just hear about it more now than ever before. Men (not all, but some) have a seriously hard time being turned down. If you're a woman over the age of 18 (but reading these, you are probably younger), it's unlikely that you don't have a story of men acting seriously badly in either a situation like this or something similar.
