40 Dense Moments When Men Thought They Knew Women's Bodies Better Than Women Do But Just Ended Up Sounding Dumb
Oh, they really have no clue.
There's a fine line between stupidity and ignorance, and some people lie somewhere in between. As humans, we like to be knowledgeable about everything, but if there's one thing we mostly hate—it's being proven wrong.
That might just be the case between men and women. There has always been a passive war between the two: men asserting dominance and women fighting for the right to control their own lives and bodies.
Women have come a long way since the early ages, acquiring the right to vote, having property rights, and working in male-dominated industries, among other achievements. However, if there's one thing that women all over the world are still fighting for today, it's having the final say over what to do with their own bodies. As Dr. Esther Perel, a renowned couples therapist, states, "The more we understand our bodies and emotions, the more empowered we become in our relationships."
This is partly because male leaders don't necessarily consider what women go through mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. This societal mindset has led many young boys to think that being a girl or a woman isn't that complicated, instilling the belief that a woman's struggles are always within her control and that she should be able to do something about them.
One particular point in case: periods. Would you be surprised to know that some men genuinely think that women can schedule their periods or that they believe women can just push it all out in one go so they won't have to suffer any longer? As Dr. Kelly McGonigal, a health psychologist, points out, "Understanding the complexities of women's health is crucial for fostering empathy and support."
Sounds funny, right? But that's definitely the case with some of the men featured in a series of women's tweets after a certain Sabrina on Twitter shared that her ex used to think that all women get their period on the 15th of every month.
If you think that sounds highly absurd, then you should check all the replies that followed her tweet below!

While most of these are unarguably hilarious, this just speaks volumes about the society we are living in.
Most men aren't taught as much, and they never bother to learn more about women's bodies because it has been instilled that talking about periods and pregnancy is taboo. In reality, both men and women alike really need to be educated about these topics. It's also quite alarming that some men in the medical field seem to hold such absurd ideas about women's bodies, too!
