Disney+ Picks Thanksgiving Weekend for Mickey's Home Alone, With Pluto Guarding Christmas Dinner
Disney+ sets Mickey's Home Alone for Nov. 27, with Mickey and Pluto defending Christmas dinner in a new animated holiday special.
Disney has set a streaming date for its next Mickey Mouse Christmas release. Mickey's Home Alone will debut on Disney+ on Friday, Nov. 27, putting the new animated special on the service the day after Thanksgiving.
What changed, and who it affects
The update is simple for Disney+ subscribers: Mickey's Home Alone is now on the platform's November schedule for Nov. 27.
Disney has also said the special is coming to Disney Jr. and Disney Channel, though those TV air dates have not been announced. For now, the confirmed date is the Disney+ launch.
Disney has not released a trailer. It also has not announced the voice cast for Mickey, Minnie or the rest of the lineup.

Why this one stands out
Mickey's Home Alone is a full-length animated holiday special that gives Mickey Mouse and Pluto a Home Alone style setup. The story begins with Mickey planning a quiet Christmas at home. Minnie then surprises him and the gang with tickets to a famous Ice Palace.
In the rush to leave, Mickey and Pluto are left behind. They end up protecting the house from a raccoon and a weasel that want their Christmas dinner, while Minnie and the rest of the group try to make it back home in time to celebrate.
Disney has not said the special is directly connected to the Home Alone movies beyond the title and the left-behind-at-Christmas premise.

Songs, creative team and where it fits in Mickey's holiday lineup
The special was produced by Wild Canary in association with Disney Jr. Tom Rogers is the executive producer, Rachel Ruderman is co-executive producer, and Shane Prigmore directs.
Music is a big part of the package. Disney has announced two original songs, "Ho-Ho-Home for Christmas" and "Favorite Christmas Feeling," both written by Keith Harrison Dworkin. The special also includes a new arrangement of "Jingle Bells" and an original score by Tony Morales.
For Disney fans, this adds another title to Mickey's long Christmas catalog, which already includes Mickey's Christmas Carol, Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas, Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas, Mickey Saves Christmas and Mickey and the Very Many Christmases. Several of those are already available on Disney+.
The immediate takeaway is the release date: if you want to watch Mickey's Home Alone first, Disney+ is the place to find it starting Nov. 27.
