Woman Asks Reddit If She's Wrong To Be Upset That Her MIL Announced Her Pregnancy On Facebook
The betrayal is real, especially when it comes to such a profound moment in one's life.
Some secrets are only secrets until one person decides they are not. In this case, a young woman thought she and her husband were keeping their pregnancy private, at least for a little while.
Reddit user u/Fallen-Grace5656 said she and her husband had just learned they were expecting, but she wanted to wait before telling anyone because the couple was not sure they were ready for a baby. Her husband told his mother anyway, and then his mother posted the news on Facebook for everyone to see.
That is where the real fallout began, because the Redditor felt betrayed by both of them and was not shy about saying so. Now the family is dealing with the aftermath, and the comments did not hold back.
The Redditor asked, "AITA for yelling at my husband's mother for announcing my pregnancy using my husband's Facebook account?"
Reddit/Fallen-Grace5656Our OP explained that she had asked her husband not to tell anyone they were pregnant, but he went against her wishes and told his mother.
Reddit/Fallen-Grace5656Her MIL was desperate to share the news on Facebook, but they had given her strict instructions not to.

But the MIL ignored their wishes. She logged into her son's Facebook account and posted the news for everyone to see.

The Redditor understandably felt incredibly betrayed by her MIL, so she yelled at her and made her cry.

The OP's husband demanded that she apologize to his mother for hurting her feelings.

So, she decided to turn to the subreddit for advice.

"NTA!"

An "extreme and blatant crossing of boundaries and disrespect."

That is a pretty blunt way to put it.
It also matches the sister who disclosed a pregnancy secret, then got tangled in baby expense arguments.
"You have a problem larger than your pregnancy."

"Use this information to guide your decisions about the future."

More than one person thought this was about the marriage, not just the announcement.
It's a conspiracy!

Woah.

It's "bullying."

What's your take on this one? Do you think our OP was out of line for reacting the way she did, or do you think she was well within her rights to be angry?
The main issue here was that our OP felt betrayed, not only by her MIL but also by her husband. They both deliberately went against her wishes and essentially took a major life decision out of her hands.
It seems there is a lot of trust to rebuild in this family, which is never an easy task. We wish them all the very best.
