This Woman Showed Her Husband a Nasty Text She Received from His Mother, and All Hell Broke Loose

"You finally trapped our son, and you want to use the baby as a pawn."

Families are an intricate web of different personalities and dynamics. Even at the best of times, family relationships can be challenging to navigate.

Reddit user u/throwaway-text2 knows all too well how complex family issues can be. Recently, she shared her story in the AITA (Am I The A-Hole?) subreddit.

The woman explained that she has never had a particularly good relationship with her mother-in-law. To be precise, u/throwaway-text2 says her mother-in-law hates her guts!

So, when u/throwaway-text2—a new mother—wasn't feeling well at a recent family dinner and didn't eat the food her mother-in-law had cooked, let's just say it didn't go over well. The OP's mother-in-law sent her a hateful text message, prompting u/throwaway-text2 to show the nasty text to her husband.

Naturally, the OP's husband was triggered when he read his mother's cruel words directed at his wife. He tried to call his mother, but when she didn't answer, he decided to go over to his parents' house to confront her.

Unfortunately, things only got worse from there. When tensions escalated, resulting in the OP's husband disowning his mother, she fainted and had to be taken to the hospital, supposedly due to her diabetes.

Multiple family members have accused poor u/throwaway-text2 of being solely responsible for all the drama, and even her husband isn't speaking to her. So, is u/throwaway-text2 the a-hole?

The mother-in-law accused u/throwaway-text2 of being "passive-aggressive." She even went as far as to insult the OP's appearance.

So, the overall consensus here is that the OP is not the a-hole! But did we really think the answer would be any different?

Some of the comments in that message were nothing short of vicious! By being so disrespectful to her daughter-in-law, the mother-in-law is also disrespecting her son.

As for the fainting? Well, we're no experts, but it seems that blaming it on diabetes may be a little far-fetched.

Family relationships can be difficult at the best of times, but it takes everyone involved to make them work. There is no place for aggression or cruelty within a family, no matter the circumstances.
