This Guy Applied To 60 Places That Were Hiring To Prove That People Are Willing To Work
This guy was sick of hearing about how everybody's hiring but no one wants to work.
Joey Holtz wanted to test a claim that keeps popping up across the country, that businesses cannot find people willing to work. Instead of arguing about it online, he spent 30 days sending out two job applications a day to employers that were actively hiring.
The results were rough. Out of 60 applications, he got 16 email replies, four phone calls, and just one interview, which turned into a minimum wage full-time offer even though he had applied for part-time work. The experiment ended up saying a lot more about hiring standards than about worker availability.
His numbers sparked plenty of debate, and the reactions were just as revealing as the experiment itself.
Businesses all around the US have been complaining about a shortage of workers, creating an illusion that people refuse to work
ABC15PatrickJoey first became aware of these complaints after an owner of a clinic told him he can't keep his workers because of the stimulus checks
FlickrAfter hearing about this, Joey decided to conduct an experiment to see if the issue really is with people not wanting to work

Joey decided to put the hiring claims to the test himself.
He specifically targeted employers that were complaining about not being able to find help
Mohawk Joey
He only managed to land one interview, and the employer wasn't completely honest in the job ad
Mohawk Joey
Not being honest in the job advertisement is definitely not going to attract a lot of potential employees
Mohawk Joey
Apparently, these businesses were used to taking advantage of desperate people by offering jobs with low pay and terrible conditions.
Mohawk Joey
Joey's experiment definitely did a great job of shedding some light on this issue.

People online had plenty to say about the results.
It also echoes the friends debating unequal rent after one loses their job.
Plenty of people on the internet had something to say about this whole thing, and here are some of their opinions

The pandemic really did change everything

Signs are out, but they won't hire anyone
Mohawk Joey
What's even the point?
Mohawk Joey
Not everyone has the skills to hire people online
Mohawk Joey
Minimum wage is no longer enough
Mohawk Joey
It's all about balance
Mohawk Joey
It really doesn't make sense sometimes
Mohawk Joey
That left a lot of people questioning the hiring process itself.
It's crazy to see how many businesses are just lying about wanting to hire new workers. Even the ones that need workers are offering terrible pay and even worse conditions.
Then they wonder why they can't find anyone to work for them. Standards change every day, and employers have to adapt and offer more if they want to stay competitive.
Have you had an experience similar to Joey's?
