Twitter User Shares Great Example Of What It's Like To Be A Woman On The Internet
This is far too common an occurrence.
Some people can turn a harmless photo into something ugly in seconds.
That is exactly what happened when Catrin Williams, who posts as @catttttt___ on Twitter, shared a simple example of what it can feel like to be a woman online. The post shows an ordinary image, then the kind of response women still get far too often, even when they are just trying to share something normal.
It is a small exchange, but it says a lot about the internet she is dealing with.
The first picture.
TwitterAbove is the first picture. Innocent, right? Just a picture of some new headphones, right? Not a single aspect of this photo is sexualized in any way. Wait for it, though.
And then came the reply she was probably expecting, unfortunately.
This echoes the moment OP confronted a family friend’s inappropriate behavior at a casual gathering, and still got hit with AITA backlash.
The response from some random dude.
TwitterHer tweet of the two photos has been retweeted over 30,000 times because it paints an all-too-frequent picture that women have to deal with. Let us know your thoughts in the comment section!
It did not take long for people to recognize the point.
He offered his wife the option to quit her job, then got called misogynistic at dinner, see what happened.
