She displayed the invitation she received, which stated at the bottom, "Pay for your own meal." Ultimately, this couple is inviting guests to their wedding but asking them to pay for their own food when they arrive.

Ultimately, if you can't pay for the food at your wedding, then perhaps you shouldn't be having a wedding, consider different food options, or invite fewer people. No matter what, I don't think that asking guests to pay for their own food was the right choice.

We can all relate to this comment because we have definitely never heard of or been to a wedding that was BYOF.

It reminds me of the AITA host who charged friends for a gourmet dinner.

We can imagine that a lot of people will decline this offer simply because of this request.

I think this is definitely a first for many of us, and I hope it doesn't start a new tradition of "BYO" or paying for your own items at a wedding. Ultimately, many people are traveling or attending, of course, for the couple, but certain things are almost expected at weddings, and food is one of those things.
