Wedding Couple Makes Guests Pay For Their Own Food And Gets Ripped To Pieces Over It

Technically, anyone can do whatever they want with their wedding, but we didn't expect this to happen.

Weddings are supposed to be celebratory occasions, and they are a time when many loved ones gather to celebrate the love and future of two people. In our opinion, one of the most enjoyable aspects of attending weddings is that they are always so different from one another.

Because a couple's wedding is meant to represent them, we see a wide variety of weddings featuring different traditions, music, colors, styles, venues, and overall vibes. With that said, we can sometimes be surprised when we hear about the various traditions that will be observed at a wedding.

This couple's wedding invitations struck some people the wrong way when they read about their penny-pinching tactic for inviting guests. Now, of course, people can do whatever they want at their wedding, but they must understand how some guests will react.

This TikToker showcased a wedding invitation she received that truly caught people by surprise. If you're like us, then you probably have never heard of anyone doing this.

So, we wanted to explore this situation and explain why exactly this couple's wedding garnered so much attention while also looking at some of the most popular comments on the video. Let's dive in.

This TikToker showed off a wedding invitation that she received where the request surprised her completely.

She displayed the invitation she received, which stated at the bottom, "Pay for your own meal." Ultimately, this couple is inviting guests to their wedding but asking them to pay for their own food when they arrive.

I'm sure this guest wasn't the only one taken aback by this.

So many comments were left on this post explaining how ridiculous this is.

Ultimately, if you can't pay for the food at your wedding, then perhaps you shouldn't be having a wedding, consider different food options, or invite fewer people. No matter what, I don't think that asking guests to pay for their own food was the right choice.

We can imagine that a lot of people will decline this offer simply because of this request.

Some people said they wouldn't attend, and others even called it tacky that they included this request.

We can all relate to this comment because we have definitely never heard of or been to a wedding that was BYOF.

Honestly, we can't imagine that this couple provided anything for consumption for free at their wedding, so it might be BYOB as well. As a guest, I would have a lot of questions.

Here is the original TikTok video where she shows the wedding invitation and what it says.

I think this is definitely a first for many of us, and I hope it doesn't start a new tradition of "BYO" or paying for your own items at a wedding. Ultimately, many people are traveling or attending, of course, for the couple, but certain things are almost expected at weddings, and food is one of those things.

What do you think about this, and would you have attended the wedding?
