Pringles' weirdest Halloween stunt yet offers 200 years of chips and a can-shaped urn
Pringles has launched a Halloween giveaway offering one US winner a custom urn and 200 years of free chips.
Pringles has unveiled a Halloween giveaway that leans hard into dark humour. One fan in the US will be picked to receive a custom urn shaped like the brand's signature can, plus what the company says is 200 years' worth of Pringles.
The promotion is part of Pringles' new Once You Drop campaign and opens on October 13 at 9 AM ET. To take part, people have to visit the Pringles website and sign a digital "will and taste-ament" saying they would want their ashes buried in a Pringles can.
The giveaway is open to legal residents of the US and Washington, DC, who are at least 18 years old. No purchase is required. Entries stay open until October 22 at 11:59 PM ET, and Pringles says one winner will be chosen at random and contacted around October 31.

What the winner actually gets
The prize is deliberately over the top. The selected entrant will receive a one-off urn made from precious metal, designed to resemble the familiar Pringles container. It also comes with a removable lid and a personalised engraving.
On top of that, the winner gets an "afterlifetime" supply of Pringles, which the brand puts at 200 years' worth of chips. According to the company, that supply can be passed on to someone the winner chooses after their death.
In the clip below, funeral director Dan McDonald, who is known online as @DanTheFuneralMan, appears as part of the campaign encouraging fans to enter.

The real story behind the can idea
As strange as the contest sounds, Pringles says it is drawing from a real story. The campaign takes inspiration from Fredric Baur, the inventor credited with developing the Pringles can.
Baur was proud enough of that design that he asked for some of his ashes to be buried in a Pringles container after he died in 2008. His family followed through, placing a portion of his ashes inside a Pringles can and burying it with the rest of his remains.
Mauricio Jenkins, Salty Snacks Brand and Content Lead at Mars Snacking North America, said the campaign was meant to take the Once You Drop tagline literally and tap into Halloween's dark humour, while giving devoted Pringles fans a prize tied to the can itself.
