The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen wraps production with Raven-Symoné and Adrienne Bailon returning
The fourth Cheetah Girls movie has finished filming, with original stars returning alongside a new generation for Disney Channel and Disney+.
For Disney Channel fans, The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen just reached the kind of milestone that makes a long-awaited comeback feel real. The official Cheetah Girls Instagram account shared a set update confirming that production has wrapped on the franchise's fourth movie.
Filming is now complete on the new entry, which was first announced in July. That reveal also said production was about to begin in South Africa. The film is being built as a handoff between generations, with returning stars from earlier Cheetah Girls movies joined by a younger lineup.
In the clip below, the cast celebrates the wrap. Raven-Symoné, Adrienne Bailon, Lynn Whitfield, Lori Alter and Sabrina Bryan are back from the 2003 Disney Channel original and the 2006 sequel. Symoné, Whitfield and Alter were not part of the 2008 third film. Joining them are Leah Sava' Jeffries, Carmen Sanchez, Kaileen Chang, Sophie Lennon and Kamogelo Ramashala.
The official story setup follows Galleria, played by Symoné, and Chanel, played by Bailon, traveling to Africa with Galleria's daughter Faith, played by Jeffries, and Faith's three friends to volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary. There, the four teens face tests to their friendship, find their voice and discover what the Cheetah spirit means as they work to save the preserve and become the new Cheetah Girls.
Bille Woodruff is directing and co-producing the movie, with Kara Holden, Sarah Watson and Deborah Swisher credited as writers. A release date has not been announced. The film is set to premiere on Disney Channel and Disney+.
