There aren't many days in a year that we look forward to as much as we look forward to our birthdays. I believe just about everyone anticipates their birthday, and we all love celebrating them, regardless of whether they are our own.

It's a truly special occasion and a great excuse to gather friends and family to enjoy some cake, candles, or champagne. If you're anything like me, then the third entry in this celebratory list is the one you look forward to the most.

However, when you flee your home to escape a raging war, your birthday becomes just another difficult day. Arina and her family were escaping the war that has been destroying homes in Ukraine, and they ended up in a refugee camp in Romania.

This all happened around the time when this little girl was about to turn 7 years old. It's needless to say that these conditions weren't ideal for a birthday party.

Regardless of everything, the volunteers in this refugee camp weren't about to let this special day go to waste. Along with the local authorities, they decided to throw a surprise birthday party for the 7-year-old, who was completely unaware that she was about to celebrate her birthday properly, despite the challenging circumstances.

When they learned about the special occasion, the volunteers, alongside local authorities, bought balloons, party hats, a cake, and gifts for the birthday girl.

This awful war has left many people without homes and forced thousands to flee their country to survive. Arina is just one of the thousands of little kids who are forced to celebrate their birthdays in a refugee camp.

We sincerely hope that Arina and everyone in the same situation can return to their homes as soon as possible.
