Restaurant Owner Sets The Record Straight After Getting An Unfair 1-Star Review And Tells A "Karen" Not To Come Back
As proven time and time again, customers are not always right.
Restaurants used to rely on marketing to spread the word about how good their food is. It was the most reliable form of marketing then, and it is still effective now.
Some of us still trust the recommendations of our loved ones when it comes to the newest and best food in town. However, things have changed since then, and we don't always have the time to ask several people where to find the best restaurant.
Luckily for us, the internet has the answers for our daily dining needs. We now search online for food reviews to guide us to gastronomic heaven.
Who needs the Zagat guide when you can read Joe1987's review of the fusion restaurant downtown? Just kidding; we love the Zagat guide.
Online reviews are not always accurate when it comes to feedback. Owners and companies can hire people to pad their reviews with positive comments to hide their less-than-stellar ratings.
Most reviews are also anonymous and can be made by anyone. Not all customers are honest about their experiences and may leave a negative review out of spite.
It happens more often than you think, and this restaurant owner handled the 1-star review like a pro. The customer thought she had the upper hand when she left the negative feedback, but the owner's response shut that down quickly.
A staff member from the restaurant shared a screenshot of the review and their boss's response to it:
defeatedparkThe customer claimed the restaurant had the worst service she had ever experienced. She also implied that the staff were clueless, which the owner did not appreciate one bit.
defeatedparkYou can read the owner's full reply below, but that last line is the killer: "Please don't come back." Short, sweet, and brutal.

The rest of Reddit seemed to agree with how the restaurant owner handled the situation.

Customers like Maddy are not the type you want as loyal patrons.

It gives off big "you cannot fire me because I quit" energy.

If you give customers like Maddy a chance to believe they were right, they will never, ever let you forget it.

Being an expert and notorious complainer to get what you want is not the flex you think it is. Yes, guys can be Karens too.

If you get this upset over the placement of your cheesecake slice, you may have more problems than just baked goods.

It's about time that restaurants begin standing up for themselves and their staff against customers who think that waving their money around gives them the right to treat everyone like their servants.

People in retail and food service do not get paid enough to be yelled at by rude customers who never bothered to learn good manners.

If you made an honest mistake with your order, why not try asking the wait staff if they could replace it? Politely. It gets you places.

Dear OP, can you point us in the direction of this restaurant so we can show you guys some support?

If you want to show them some love, you can visit Depot Hot Dogs in Portage, Indiana.

They must really have great hot dogs.
throwaday2020
That's a state with a long-held hot dog tradition we can respect.

It's not far from reality for a customer to make mistakes. If you do, try behaving like a decent human and ask the staff for a replacement order politely.
The restaurant staff is there to provide you with a service, but if you abuse your status as a customer, they also have the right to kick you out of their establishment. Don't be like Maddy, who will go for a long time without a delicious hot dog.
