The announcement was made through his official Facebook page, which stated, "Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight with his wife Deborah by his side. Daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends have been with him throughout the last 24 hours."
The Facebook post also stated that his career, which spanned over 6 decades, was amazing, and he sold over 100 million albums all over the world and starred in more than 65 movies.
Loaf was honored with the Hero Award at the annual Q Awards music ceremony in 2016. He dedicated the awards to daily life's heroes and requested people to bring back real love into this world.

Meat Loaf rose to fame with his role as Eddie in the movie The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which was released in 1975. He also sang a very popular song called Hot Patootie in that movie.
His famous films include Wayne’s World, Fight Club, Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Focus. One of his very popular songs, “Bat Out of Hell,” still remains amongst the top ten selling albums of all time.
A lot of fans still remember him first as a performer who could do it all.
