Seth Rogen Breaks Four Years of Silence on Disney’s Figment Movie
Seth Rogen gave his first public Figment movie update since 2022, shortly after Disney announced a new Journey Into Imagination at EPCOT.
Figment fans did not get a greenlight, a release date or a casting reveal. They did get something they had not heard since 2022: Seth Rogen publicly addressing Disney’s planned Figment movie at all, putting the long-quiet project back into conversation.
During a Toronto International Film Festival press junket, Rogen was asked for an update on the Figment film. He first corrected one part of the question, saying he was not going to star in it and that he and his team were producing it instead.
When the follow-up turned to where development and production stand, Rogen laughed and said, "Let me get back to you on that. Let me kick the tires on that one!" Asked what he could share about his take on Figment, he gave another short answer: "I can't tell you anything!"
That makes this a small update, but still an update. It is the first time Rogen has spoken publicly about the project since the movie was announced in September 2022.

The feature was announced with Rogen's Point Grey producing. Point Grey was co-founded by Rogen and his producing partner Evan Goldberg. Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, who previously worked on Pokémon Detective Pikachu, were set to write the Figment film. Under the Point Grey banner, Rogen, Goldberg and James Weaver have produced projects including Pam & Tommy, The Boys, The Boys Presents: Diabolical, 50/50, Neighbors, The Night Before, Blockers, Long Shot, This Is the End, The Interview, The Disaster Artist and An American Pickle.
Why Figment fans are watching this now
The timing stands out because Figment has already been back in Disney conversation on the parks side. Less than one month before Rogen's comments, the Disney Experiences Showcase ended with Neil Patrick Harris, dressed as Dreamfinder, calling on Disney Parks Chair Thomas Mazloum to restore his favorite Audio-Animatronic character. Mazloum then announced a new Journey Into Imagination at EPCOT with Figment and Dreamfinder.
Earlier this year, Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro also got a shareholder question about a Figment feature film. D'Amaro said he loved how much adoration there is for Figment and said the character continues to inspire creativity and imagination across generations. He pointed to the animated short How Not to Draw with Figment, narrated by Harris, as evidence that Figment remains active in Disney's creative pipeline. At that time, he said he had nothing to announce, while adding that Disney is always exploring new ways for guests to engage with Figment and other characters fans love.
For now, the biggest change is simple. After nearly four years of silence, the Figment movie is being talked about again.
