Should I Have Answered My Phone for My Partners Midterm Crisis?

AITA for not answering partner's call to bring a calculator, leading to his poor midterm performance? Reddit weighs in on responsibility and consequences.

Some relationships survive midterms, but this one apparently got shredded by a calculator.

A 28-year-old woman was off work and decided to sleep in, then her partner called her four times after realizing he grabbed the wrong calculator for his test. He needed her to bring the right one, but she was asleep, so the calls went unanswered. When he showed up without the calculator he needed, he ended up doing poorly, and now he is refusing to talk to her.

Now she has to figure out if her partner’s midterm meltdown is really her fault.

Original Post

My partner had a midterm this morning and once he got to school, realized he had the wrong calculator and called me four times to ask me to bring the right one. Problem is, I was sleeping.

He didn’t know this, but it was one morning I had off so I took the chance to sleep in. He’s now not talking to me because he did poorly without the calculator.

AITA?

It’s the same kind of tension as the post about excluding in-laws from a child’s birthday party.

Those four missed calls are the whole spark, because he was stressed and she was literally unconscious in bed.

The moment he realized the calculator was wrong, he turned to her, but her day off meant she never even heard him.

When he blamed the bad grade on the unanswered calls, the silence between them became the real punishment.

By the time he is not talking to her at all, the question shifts from “calculator or not” to “who gets grace after a test goes sideways.”
