Should My Friends Therapy Peacock Wear a Diaper on Our Flight?

"OP questions if they're wrong for insisting friend's therapy peacock wears a diaper on a flight, sparking tension - Reddit users weigh in. #Boundaries"

A 28-year-old woman refused to let her friend bring a peacock on a flight, and it quickly turned into a full-blown relationship stress test.

Her friend, Sam, who owns a therapy peacock named Percy, said the bird would come along for emotional support. The twist? Percy was not wearing a diaper, and the OP was suddenly picturing mess, chaos, and a cabin that did not sign up for surprise bird behavior.

Now it’s a debate about boundaries, emotional needs, and whether OP was being unreasonable or just trying to prevent an airborne disaster.

Original Post

So I'm (28F) and I have this good friend, let's call her Sam (30F). Sam owns a therapy peacock named Percy.

Recently, Sam and I planned a flight together for a much-needed vacation. The thing is, Sam mentioned bringing Percy along due to emotional support needs.

However, I was caught off guard when Sam said Percy doesn't wear a diaper. Having a bird roaming freely during a flight felt uncomfortable to me.

I suggested that Percy wear a diaper to contain any mess, but Sam adamantly refused, stating that Percy is trained and won't cause any trouble. While I understand the significance of emotional support animals, the thought of a peacock roaming the cabin without any containment worries me.

I pressed the issue, and things got tense between us. Sam accused me of not valuing her emotional needs and now insists I'm overstepping.

Am I the a*****e for demanding Percy wear a diaper during our flight? I honestly don't know if I'm wrong here and need an outside perspective.

The whole thing kicked off when Sam casually mentioned bringing Percy, and OP realized “emotional support” did not automatically mean “contained.”

That’s when OP suggested Percy wear a diaper, and Sam shot back that Percy is trained and would not cause trouble.

Things got tense fast after OP kept pressing, and Sam accused her of not valuing her emotional needs.

Now OP is stuck wondering if she overstepped, while Sam insists she’s the one who needs her needs respected.

Nobody wants to be the villain in a flight plan that includes a diaper-less peacock.
