Should I Say No to My Friend Adopting a Puppy Without Asking Me First?
"AITA for not wanting my friend's new puppy in our home without prior consultation? Allergies and boundaries are at play in this living situation dilemma."
A roommate’s puppy surprise has turned one shared house into a full-blown standoff. What started as a casual conversation about maybe fostering a dog quickly turned into a much bigger problem when one woman came home to find a new puppy already in the living room.
The Reddit poster says she and her friend had a no-pet agreement because of allergies and past rental trouble, but the friend adopted the puppy on a whim anyway. Now the question is whether this was a harmless impulse or a serious breach of trust in a home where one person’s health is on the line.
The puppy is here, the agreement is broken, and neither roommate seems ready to back down. Read on.

So I'm (27F) sharing a house with my friend (29F) and we have a no-pet agreement due to allergies and previous rental issues. We recently had a conversation about possibly fostering a dog, which we both seemed open to.
The other day, I come home to find my friend with a new puppy in the living room. She explains that she adopted it on a whim and fell in love with the pup.
I was shocked and reminded her of our agreement. She said she didn't think it would be a big deal.
I have severe allergies and am worried about the impact on my health and our living situation. I'm upset that she didn't talk to me before making such a big decision.
She's now pleading with me to let her keep the puppy. AITA for not wanting the puppy in our home without discussing it first?
