Man Runs To His Sick Stepsister's Aid, Gets Accused Of Undermining Stepmom
"I crossed the line by doing something she didn't want me to do"
It's no easy feat being a step-parent, especially to kids who don't like you. As relationships develop, step-parenting evolves.
The most effective stepparent and stepchild relationships in the early stages of remarriage are those in which the stepparent prioritizes the establishment of a friendly, warm interaction style with the stepchild. Stepparents who try to take on a disciplinarian role after building a foundation of mutual respect and affection are less likely to encounter hostility from the stepchild.
Both intimacy and the power to enforce rules take time to develop and shouldn't be hurried. The OP of today's story had an issue with his stepmom, and he decided to throw it to the AITA subreddit community to get their opinions.
OP has two stepsisters, and their parents got married a year ago, so he never really got to know either of them too well, and they all generally mind their own business. One day, OP's stepsister asked if someone could please grab her soup from a deli place.
Her mom said that since she had a license, she could go herself. OP's stepsister said she was feeling really bad and didn't think she could, so the OP decided to get it.
Later on, the OP discovered his stepmom didn't like that he went and got her the soup. In fact, OP's dad said that he was undermining her, but that wasn't his intention.

OP's stepsister is acting more maturely, unlike the mother. You stay at home when you're sick to avoid infecting others. Some Redditors agree that since the stepsister is almost an adult, she must learn how to deal with illnesses and circumstances on her own in the absence of assistance.
However, there was, and the OP agreed to it. If the stepmother is upset that an adult offered to assist HER child, then it's HER issue, and that's a wrap.
