Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man May Already Be Plotting Season 4 Before Season 2 Reaches Disney+

Jeff Trammell says work is underway on Spider-Man Season 3 and a possible Season 4 before Season 2 premieres Jan. 13, 2027.

Marvel animation fans just got an unusually early clue about where one Disney+ series could be headed next. As Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man gears up for its second season, creator Jeff Trammell says the team is already moving beyond it.

While promoting Season 2 at New York Comic Con, Trammell said the animated series is not only deep into the already ordered third season, but is also being worked on with a fourth season in mind. The key catch is that Marvel Studios has not officially announced Season 4, so that part remains a possibility rather than a confirmed pickup.

That is the big change for viewers following the show on Disney+. Instead of waiting for Season 2 to arrive before hearing anything about the future, fans now know the creative team is already developing stories past it. Trammell also indicated that the long break between the first two seasons should not necessarily be the model going forward. Season 1 premiered in 2025, while Season 2 is set for January 2027, but he said the early Season 3 renewal, which came when Season 1 was released, has allowed the team to get much further ahead.

For fans, that means the series appears to have a longer runway than some might have expected during a period of uncertainty around Marvel Television. It does not mean four seasons are guaranteed. The third season was previously ordered. The fourth has not been formally greenlit.

The update matters because Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has become one of Marvel's best received animated projects. The series takes place in an alternate version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and follows a teenage Peter Parker voiced by Hudson Thames. In this version, Peter is brought into the orbit of Norman Osborn, voiced by Colman Domingo, instead of Tony Stark and the Avengers. The story also tracks Lonnie Lincoln, voiced by Eugene Byrd, as he moves toward becoming Tombstone.

Promotion for Season 2 has highlighted material inspired by the earliest Venom comics and the arrival of Gwen Stacy, also known as Spider-Gwen. Season 2 premieres on Disney+ on January 13, 2027.
