Universal's Stranger Things 5 house is back for Halloween Horror Nights 35 with Vecna, Demogorgons and a major MAC-Z finale set piece.
If your spooky season plans stretch beyond Disney, Halloween Horror Nights 35 has brought Stranger Things back for another run. This year’s house is built around season five and framed as the closing chapter in Halloween Horror Nights’ long partnership with the Netflix series.
What changed for Halloween Horror Nights guests
Stranger Things returns as one of five all new IP haunted houses at Halloween Horror Nights 35, and this version focuses on season five. The walkthrough is installed in Soundstage 23 and opens in the Upside Down at Castle Byers, with Will Byers suspended overhead before guests move into a title card scene where Vecna appears and says, "We can begin."
From there, the house moves through several locations and monster encounters from the season. Guests pass through the Wheeler house, where a Demogorgon emerges in the kitchen and Karen Wheeler appears holding a broken wine bottle. The route then shifts into the Upside Down tunnels beneath Hawkins, including the area under the MAC-Z entered through a restroom stall. A flowering Demogorgon appears there, followed by Hawkins Memorial Hospital and its laundry room sequence with Demodogs.
The largest set piece in the house is the MAC-Z showdown room. It includes a Demogorgon arriving atop a moving Humvee, followed by the moment when Will faces a Demogorgon and tears it apart. The walkthrough also includes Hopper and Eleven at Hawkins National Laboratory, the melting lab, Dimension X, the Mind Flayer and Pain Tree, Holly Wheeler trying to break free, an Eleven and Vecna confrontation, Joyce Byers with an axe over Vecna, and a closing image of Eleven disappearing into the collapsing Upside Down.
Why this house stands out
Universal’s creative team described the house as the end of a decade long relationship between Halloween Horror Nights and Stranger Things. The event previously adapted season one on its own, combined seasons two and three in one house, and later brought in season four with Vecna.
For season five, the team chose to emphasize the monsters and violent set pieces instead of trying to condense the story’s emotional arcs into a haunted house format. That means Demogorgons, Demodogs and repeated Vecna appearances are used to keep the experience moving from scare to scare.
The house also delivers a technical milestone. Universal said it had wanted a fully flowering Demogorgon since the first Stranger Things house, but the effect was not previously possible for a Halloween Horror Nights house. This year, animatronics are used to create that transformation, and the same push toward larger physical effects is visible in the MAC-Z scene, where an animatronic Demogorgon breaks apart.
For fans heading to Halloween Horror Nights 2026, the practical takeaway is simple: Stranger Things is back this year, and this time the event is treating season five as the franchise’s big haunted house farewell.
