Here's Everything You Need To Know About The Studio Ghibli Theme Park Finally Opening In November 2022
It's every Studio Ghibli fan's dream come true!
Studio Ghibli fans have been waiting years for this, and the long-promised theme park is finally set to open in Nagakute City. The first phase of Ghibli Park will bring some of the studio’s most beloved worlds to life, with familiar settings from films like My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Spirited Away, and Howl’s Moving Castle.
The park is opening at Aichi Commemorative Park, the same site that hosted the 2005 World’s Fair, and it will launch with three areas before expanding later. That means visitors will get an early look at Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse, Hill of Youth, and Dondoko Forest, with more themed spaces still to come.
Here’s what fans can expect when the gates finally open.
Hill of Youth
The first area, Hill of Youth, is the entrance to this Ghibli experience. This area is mostly based on four films: Whisper of the Heart, The Cat Returns, Castle in the Sky, and Howl's Moving Castle.

Like how nature is represented in the films, the theme park will also incorporate a forest vibe for fans to enjoy. It was intended by the regional government representatives to lessen the construction of this area to make it as natural as possible.

You will be able to visit and explore Kiki’s room and home in the bakery where she lives and works; you can even buy the bread!

This area is themed with European-style brick pathways for fans to truly feel as if they’re in a Ghibli world.
