Teacher Was Surprised When A Straight A+ Student Asked Him To Give His 5 Bonus Points To Any Fellow Student Who Needs Them

No doubt a peculiar situation, but the points are his, and he wishes to kindly gift them to someone else. Honored and granted!

Some students chase every extra point they can get, but one Kentucky high schooler had a different idea. Instead of keeping his bonus points for himself, he asked his teacher to pass them along to someone else who needed them more.

Winston Lee, a history teacher in Kentucky, shared the moment after seeing the note on a test from one of his straight A+ students. The class had just taken part in an interactive review game, and the student ended up earning five bonus points for the WWII exam, but chose to give them away.

It was a small gesture with a big impact, and it left the teacher, and the rest of the class, with plenty to think about.

Students had played an interactive review game the day before, participating on an app in an attempt to score points by answering questions concerning the exam content. Of course, he excelled, earning five bonus points for the WWII exam.

Lee was amazed by the boy's generosity: 'Most honor students cling to every point possible!'

He decided to honor the noble request. This act of thoughtfulness helped another student pass the test. 'No doubt a peculiar situation, but the points are his, and he wishes to kindly gift them to someone else. Honored and granted! Another student scores a 58% (needs a 60% to pass). Boom, now a 63%,' Lee said.

That tiny note turned into a pretty memorable classroom moment.

'She was grateful for the mystery points, and I pray she pays it forward, as that is the ultimate lesson of the day. Ah, other questions come to mind: 'Correct classroom procedure?' I'm not sure. 'Is being led by compassion, kindness, and love ever considered a wrong answer?' Oddly enough, the student has taught the lesson.'

While many applauded the hard-working student for his kindness, others believe that the teacher didn't act appropriately. The test scores are intended to reflect the student's understanding and knowledge and shouldn't be given away to someone who deserves them less.

Not everyone agreed on whether that was fair.

This is also like the Reddit debate over whether someone should split lottery winnings with a friend who didn’t contribute to the pool.

Either way, the student made his point without saying much at all.

Wait until you see the coworker who demanded a split of his bonus after not contributing, in this AITA about refusing to share extra bonus points.
