Teacher Shares A Video Explaining That Their Duties Don’t End When The Bell Rings
Educators are important.
Teachers do a lot more than stand at the front of a classroom and hand out assignments. For many students, they are part mentor, part motivator, and part lifeline, long after the final bell rings.
That is why one high school English teacher’s TikTok struck such a nerve. Katie Peters shared a day in her life, along with the frustration of hearing people act like teachers stop working the moment school ends. Her video shows just how much time, energy, and emotional labor goes into the job.
And once she laid out what her day really looks like, plenty of people had thoughts.
Katie Peters, a high school English teacher, has a powerful message.

kpintoledoAnd it was eventful

Even involved listening to a story about a puppy...

She helped students
kpintoledo
Her day was already packed before it even really got going.
Then she ran to a meeting
kpintoledo
After she came home, she planned lessons for the next day...
kpintoledo
She doesn't want accolades
kpintoledo
She was not asking for applause, just a little understanding.
She just wants people to know what teachers are doing
kpintoledo
And the reasons why they are tired
kpintoledo
Mean comments hurt them
kpintoledo
Because they are working hard
kpintoledo
They do their jobs because they love teaching

People in the comments were quick to back her up.
This also echoes the controversy over the Department of Education putting Charlie Kirk’s banner next to MLK Jr.’s.
People showed their support

And gave good ideas...

Teachers also thanked Katie for sharing the video

This is true
malakabdo96
This is everyday
malakabdo96
Unfortunately, this is true
malakabdo96
Felt by every teacher...
malakabdo96
Without teachers we have nothing...
malakabdo96
Luckily, some people realize that
malakabdo96
Even though OP didn't request accolades, she got them!

And even more...

Wonderful message - thank you for being you

Truly blessed.

Yeah, teachers deserve praise, even though they don't ask for it. With what they are paid, it is obvious that there is a lot of love for the job involved.
They are certainly not in it for the money. Many people don't understand how demanding and challenging that job is.
They don't just teach from books; they are also friends, confidants, and social workers.
Every kid in their class brings different problems and stories, and they are all in that special and delicate age when every word and piece of advice has to be well weighed and analyzed.
And that takes a whole lot of time and effort. So, here's to all those wonderful educators.
