The Simpsons brings Disney's Galactic Starcruiser back as a failed Krustyland hotel

The Simpsons spoofs Disney's Galactic Starcruiser on Nov. 8, with Jenny Nicholson and Jimmi Simpson in the guest cast.

Disney's closed Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is getting an animated second life. A new Simpsons episode, "The Kosmic Kruiser," borrows the look and setup of the former Walt Disney World hotel, sending Bart and Lisa into a fenced-off immersive space stay that is not as empty as it seems.

What changed, and when fans can watch it

The new episode airs Sunday, Nov. 8 on FOX. It centers on Bart and Lisa breaking into Krustyland's most infamous failed attraction, a shut down hotel built to look like a spaceship.

The guest voice lineup includes Jenny Nicholson and Jimmi Simpson. Nicholson is especially notable for Disney and Star Wars fans because she released the 2024 video essay "The Spectacular Failure of the Star Wars Hotel," a four-hour look back at her own Galactic Starcruiser trip that drew wide attention.

The first images from the episode make the reference clear. Outside, the Kosmic Kruiser Hotel sits behind chain-link fencing with a no admittance warning, while vines climb a worn exterior. Bart works at a locked gate as Lisa watches. Inside, the space hotel still appears ready for guests, with a bridge full of control panels and star fields visible through the windows.

Other scenes show a cat officer in a blue dress uniform greeting the kids, a wanted poster for Princess Itchina, and a lounge with arched ceilings, glowing bottles behind the bar, and uniformed cat crew members at the table with Bart and Lisa. Another image features an illuminated timeline titled "Itchy & Scratchy Universe: The Last 1000 Years," complete with space wars, clone armies, and an emperor. A darker corridor shot points to the episode's main twist: the hotel was never fully abandoned.

Why Disney parks fans will recognize it

The setup closely matches Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, the immersive hotel that opened at Walt Disney World in March 2022. Guests spent two nights aboard the 100-cabin Halcyon after boarding through a launch pod sequence. The experience included lightsaber training, bridge training, and a dinner show with Gaya, and every window on the ship, including those in guest cabins, displayed outer space.

Disney announced in May 2023 that the hotel would close permanently, with its final voyage running from Sept. 28 through 30. At the time, Disney described it as one of its most creative projects. The building is now being converted by Walt Disney Imagineering into offices.

For fans who followed the rise and quick end of Galactic Starcruiser, "The Kosmic Kruiser" looks set to turn that story into a Springfield satire, while also offering one more visit to a very familiar kind of space hotel.
