15+ Movie And Television Tropes That Redditors Think Ruin The Plot
"Romance for the sake of romance. Man? Woman? LOVE! Nooooo. For heaven's sake. Now is not the time."
Movie and TV show choices are almost limitless. Although most of them are great and refreshing, they often rely on standard tropes repeatedly.
Avid watchers and movie critics are usually desensitized to these tropes and can sometimes see them coming before they even happen. Even as a regular audience member, it's not hard to recognize bad tropes from good ones.
Movies that you often snooze through might be those filled with tropes that become detrimental because they attempt to disguise mediocre writing. What's worse is that sometimes they involve A-list celebrities in these poorly written movies just to keep people watching.
Filmmakers and writers aren't discouraged from using common tropes but are encouraged to find good reasons for taking that route, such as characters not being able to communicate properly or introducing surprise witnesses in the middle of trials.
In a Reddit post, this topic was discussed after a Redditor asked what movie or television trope they disliked the most. The comments continued, and you can clearly see some tropes that are still heavily used in the industry.
This may be why, when writers try to go against these tropes, people find it refreshing and pay closer attention instead of letting it play in the background.
