Two Different Women Wear The Same Clothes To Demonstrate How It Looks On Different Body Types
Denise is size 14, and Maria is size 2…
Denise Mercedes and Maria Castellanos turned a simple style idea into a viral social media moment. The New York best friends started posting themselves in the same outfits, and their TikTok challenge, Style Not Size, quickly caught attention for all the right reasons.
Denise, a size 14 model with more than one million followers, and Maria, a size 2, showed how the same clothes can look different on different body types without losing the point of the outfit. Their photos and videos made the message easy to see, style can stand out no matter the size.
Now their challenge keeps getting attention, and the reaction says a lot about why it resonated so widely.

Denise says that it all started back in early 2019 when "my friend Maria and I would pose for photos wearing the same bikini. It did so well, and people reacted so positively that we continued doing it here and there. Once TikTok became popular, we decided to create a fun video, and that’s when it went viral," the style influencer said.
They recognized it was time to think of a hashtag of some sort and start an actual body-positive movement. They let their Instagram followers vote between #ThroughThickAndThin and #StyleNotSize, and, obviously, the second option received the most votes.
Also wild, the AITA story where a sister demanded an uncomfortable outfit for the engagement party.
That simple idea turned into a full-on social media moment.

Denise explained that their key idea is "to dress however you please and to love your body." She added that it’s time "to stop comparing yourself to others. The fact that we can inspire so many women to feel confident and be themselves makes us want to continue this movement." The two friends are thrilled about all the positivity they are receiving.
Denise also shared her perfect autumn combination for curvy women – a leather jacket, high-rise mom jeans, boots, and a shirt. "That’s always my go-to," she said.
