Unemployed Redditor Seeks Advice: AITA for Rejecting Friends Job Listings?

AITA for snapping at a friend who keeps sending unsolicited job listings while I'm struggling with unemployment and rejection, leading to tension in our relationship?

Some friendships are built to survive awkward seasons, but this one is getting tested in the most stressful way possible. A 27-year-old man has been unemployed since October, spiraling hard enough that he keeps deactivating his socials, then popping back online like nothing happened.

He says he applies for jobs daily, only to get stuck in the rejection loop after assessments and interviews. Then his longtime high school friend finds out and starts sending unsolicited job listings, even after he repeatedly doesn’t respond to those messages.

One “I’m already pressured daily, I do not need this from you” snap later, and now they’re ignoring him, leaving him to wonder if he really went too far.

Original Post

I am 27 M, for context, I have been unemployed since October. I have been emotionally spiraling because of this and kept deactivating my socials then after a few days, start posting like nothing happened.

I send job applications daily but received no responses. And if I do, after assessments or interviews, I kept getting rejected.

A friend of mine (who has been close to me since high school) found out that I kept getting rejected and started sending unsolicited job listings. After multiple messages (I don't respond whenever they send job posts) I snapped and told them "I am already pressured daily.

I do not need this from you. Sorry" They then responded with "Okay then.

I have no idea you feel this way. Sorry btw" After an hour I decided to respond with the latest job application of mine where I did an exam.

Now they are ignoring me and do not respond to any of my messages. I am an anxious person and overthink a lot.

I don't want my friend to be offended by my response but also I am already under a lot of stress. So am I the a*****e for letting them know I feel pressured to receive job listings?

The daily job applications and nonstop rejections set the emotional timer, and every new listing from his friend feels like another countdown.

When he finally snaps mid-conversation, it is not a random insult, it is a direct reaction to being spammed with job posts while he is already overwhelmed.

The friend’s “Okay then, I have no idea you feel this way” response lands like a door slamming, especially since he then sends yet another application after an exam.

Now with the friend ignoring his messages after that last back-and-forth, OP is left re-reading everything he said and wondering if he damaged a good relationship.
