Woman Locks Herself Up Because She's Tired Of Being "Mandated" To Babysit Her Fiance’s Sister’s Kid
Babysitting is hard, and it’s harder when you don’t enjoy it
Some family trips turn awkward fast, and this one went from uncomfortable to unbearable in a hurry. A woman joined her fiancé’s relatives on a road trip, only to spend the ride trapped in a car that smelled terrible and echoed with a crying child.
By the time they reached the hotel, she was already worn down, but the babysitting requests kept coming. Instead of spending her vacation helping with her fiancé’s sister’s kid, she decided to lock herself in the room and shut the whole thing down.
That choice set off a fresh round of family tension, and the comments did not hold back. Read on.
The OP and her fiancé were invited to go on a vacation by car, and it turned out they would need to endure the screams of a baby and awful smells for the entire trip.
pixydust8605This story is about looking after kids, at least on a superficial level, with a slight family drama and the impoliteness of the individual being referred to. Furthermore, if you have ever considered keeping an eye on children of your own free will, what follows may change your mind.
The Reddit post quickly gathered more than 15K upvotes and incited 1.9K comments. Scroll down to read the full story in the author’s own words.
For what it's worth, taking care of a toddler is difficult work, and it’s more frustrating to do it on vacation.

Although some individuals in the comments didn't see an issue with her locking herself away in the hotel room, most people were shocked that she didn't simply say "no." Here are some of their comments.
Also, this echoes the AITA post where someone refused to pet-sit their sisters’ misbehaving dog.
A few commenters thought the real problem started long before the hotel room.

Without much thought, it could be said that the original poster (OP) never said no to the babysitting mandate. But she did mention that there were no requests for her assistance as the child was essentially thrown at her.
So the present circumstance makes one wonder whether saying "no" would have really improved things. Let us know your thoughts on this by dropping a comment below.
Was she wrong to put her foot down?
Before you babysit anyone, read about the AITA argument when OP refused their sibling’s cat on a road trip.
