Woman Locks Herself Up Because She's Tired Of Being "Mandated" To Babysit Her Fiance’s Sister’s Kid

Babysitting is hard, and it’s harder when you don’t enjoy it

It would be safe to think that very few individuals enjoy looking after children. It is a job that requires a lot of tolerance and concentration to ensure the child stays safe and entertained.

To put it plainly, babysitting is hard, and it’s even harder when you don’t enjoy it. In particular, if you're on vacation, the last thing you want to do is spend all day babysitting.

And if you already have kids of your own, watching someone else's children is presumably quite tough as well, considering you've already spent a ton of energy babysitting. Today’s story will be about babysitting, with a rather inquisitive twist.

The OP set out on a road trip with her fiancé's family, and it went poorly at every turn. They were trapped in the vehicle for the duration of the trip, attending to a child who continued to cry and enduring the smell of dog poop.

This type of journey would be a test for essentially anybody, so it is no surprise why the OP was somewhat on edge throughout the rest of the story. The OP was then immediately turned into a babysitter for the duration of the trip, despite the fact that all she wanted to do was rest.

Well, she ultimately snapped after all the "mandated" babysitting and chose to lock herself away in the hotel room to avoid another round of that. Find out what happens next as you scroll further.

The OP and her fiancé were invited to go on a vacation by car, and it turned out they would need to endure the screams of a baby and awful smells for the entire trip.

This story is about looking after kids, at least on a superficial level, with a slight family drama and the impoliteness of the individual being referred to. Furthermore, if you have ever considered keeping an eye on children of your own free will, what follows may change your mind.

For what it's worth, taking care of a toddler is difficult work, and it’s more frustrating to do it on vacation.

Although some individuals in the comments didn't see an issue with her locking herself away in the hotel room, most people were shocked that she didn't simply say "no." Here are some of their comments.

Without much thought, it could be said that the original poster (OP) never said no to the babysitting mandate. But she did mention that there were no requests for her assistance as the child was essentially thrown at her.

So the present circumstance makes one wonder whether saying "no" would have really improved things. Let us know your thoughts on this by dropping a comment below.
