Wedding Photographer Cancels The Night Before Her Client's Big Day, Gets Praise Online For Doing So
It was a strange situation, and it was never her fault in the first place.
Even when we haven't had the opportunity to become brides ourselves yet, we know how stressful weddings can be—the planning, the venue, the food, the guests, the colors, and literally every detail needs to be considered to ensure that everything goes as smoothly as possible.
That also includes booking reliable personnel who can elevate the big day, such as an event planner, a host, some musicians, and of course—the underrated photographers.
How else would you be able to relive your memories of your big day if not for the photographer who ensures that every significant moment is captured on camera? Some people may think that smartphone DIY documentation is sufficient—but nothing truly beats the quality of a professional photographer to document your day so beautifully.
Taking the photographers' side, however, there have been many cases where a client has canceled on them right before or on the big day for various reasons.
But have you ever heard of a photographer canceling their own gig the night before a bride's wedding day?
Well, that may sound quite rude when you think about it—but this particular photographer actually had a good reason for doing so...
Shayla, a wedding photographer from Arkansas, shared her story online about a certain sticky situation she encountered with a client some time ago. Her video explaining what happened has gone viral, and people are backing her up.

shaylamherringtonEverything was fine at first—they sorted out all the preliminary details, and the only uncertain aspect was the venue for the event.

The bride went ahead and booked her, so everything seemed great at first...

Shayla sends her clients a questionnaire to gather all the important details, so she can properly document the whole event.

However, when she sent the bride her questionnaire, the client did not respond as quickly as Shayla had anticipated.

Out of kindness, Shayla even sent the bride a Starbucks gift card—just in case she was too stressed with the whole wedding planning.

But even after that, she still received no response from the bride. She tried calling, emailing, and texting her further, but alas, there was no response at all.

Then came the night before the wedding date, and the bride still hadn't responded.

She had paid the deposit, but Shayla decided to cancel her gig simply because she had no idea where the wedding was going to be held.

The next day (the big day), the bride finally responded—and naturally, she got angry at Shayla for being "unprofessional."

Here's what people have to say:
Right?! The photographer was too kind.
The logic flew way over the clients' heads.
And yet she acts like the victim. Facepalm.
That was a mistake on her part, but still!
Again, she was too kind!
Might've been the better term.

Some people asked for some tutorials:
Fight fire with fire.
And she thought she was in the right!
There's no question that brides can be too stressed to handle other matters during their big day, but they must also respect the professionals they're hiring because it isn't easy work either. Who do you think is at fault here?
