Concerned Wife Circles All The Moles On Her Husband's Body Before He Goes To The Dermatologist
"These efforts are welcomed as they facilitate a more focused examination."
When Brinlee Miles became concerned about some suspicious-looking moles on her husband Ryan's body, she made an appointment for him to consult with a dermatologist. Although she could not attend the meeting with Ryan, that didn't stop Brinlee from being involved.
The 20-year-old from Utah wanted to ensure that the doctor didn't miss anything, so she took a pen and circled any moles on her husband's body that looked unusual. Fortunately for Brinlee, the dermatologist didn't take offense; instead, she decided to respond using the same method.
The doctor made notes on Ryan's body, marking each mole and indicating whether they looked fine or would need to be tested. When Ryan came home, Brinlee made a video of the doctor's notes and posted it on TikTok.
The doctor had made notes on Ryan's chest and back, next to each of Brinlee's circles. The video has since gone viral, receiving over 11.2 million views and 5.6 thousand comments.
Brinlee had circled six moles on Ryan's back, two of which needed to be taken for biopsy. The couple later posted an update, stating that the mole on Ryan's shoulder turned out to be harmless, while the one on his chest would need to be removed as it did contain some cancerous cells.

Dr. Derrick Phillips, a consultant dermatologist, says it's not uncommon for patients to arrive at appointments the way Ryan did. "Those with lots of moles often take steps to allow easy identification of the mole or growth of concern before the appointment," he explained.
"This includes taking close-up and zoomed-out photographs with anatomical landmarks in the frame and the more recent trend of circling moles or growths," Dr. Phillips said. "These efforts are welcomed as they facilitate a more focused examination."
Skin cancer is no joke, and it's essential to keep on top of our moles and markings. "It is important that you have a sense of the number and appearance of your moles to allow you to monitor for changes accurately," Dr. Phillips said.
"Moles should be checked at least monthly, and if there are any concerns, you should book an appointment with your GP at the earliest opportunity," the doctor advised. "Moles are assessed to look for changes that could be suggestive of melanoma, a type of skin cancer that develops in new or existing moles."
So, if you're concerned about any moles or skin markings you may have, please don't delay getting them checked. And, most importantly, don't forget your hat and sunscreen!
