Some celebrities seem to age in slow motion, and that is exactly why side-by-side throwbacks are so fun to look at. From movie stars to musicians, the contrast between early fame and today’s polished look can be surprisingly small, or wildly different.

That is the appeal of Dutch graphic artist Ard Gelinck’s long-running photo series. He places famous faces next to their younger selves, turning old and new images into one playful photomontage that makes time feel a little more visible.
