20 Hard-To-Believe Things Men Have Had The Audacity To Say To Women During Childbirth
"My husband asked me if I knew how much longer it would take."
The days of proud fathers handing out cigarettes in the corridor adjacent to the birth room while their partners go into labor are long gone. Dads are frequently found on the front lines, close to their loved ones as they prepare to bring a miracle into the world.
They'll be holding their partners' hands, uttering encouraging words, and doing everything they can to make the process of giving birth as painless as possible. Not all fathers, however, have the stomach or the understanding needed to be of any help to their partners during childbirth.
Instead of being supportive, they often require more care than the expectant mother. We are sure it's not intentional, but the fact is that men can never truly imagine what it is like to give birth or the pain involved.
When TikToker and mama @sydneylaurenco encouraged other parents to post the "worst obnoxious thing your hubby did while you were in labor," she aimed to shed some light on the situation. We have selected some of the most interesting responses, and we know you will find them both funny and annoying.
Let's take a look at the worst things men can say while their partner is giving birth:
Some men really don't know what to say when their partners are in labor
E!One mom shared her experience:
She kicked it off with her story:
"I had my daughter four weeks early. I had to be induced; the pain was so severe that I had to wait until I was six centimeters dilated before I could get an epidural, so it was probably the longest time I had ever been in that much pain. I was throwing up and couldn't even cry — that's how much pain I was in.And before the nurse left the room, my husband said, 'Hey, before you leave, do you think I could get an allergy pill? Because my allergies are killing me.'"

Fellow moms like @abi.twinsmom shared their own stories:
"After 16 hours (nine of them being unmedicated), my husband cut the cord, they got the baby breathing, and then he came up to me and said, ‘I did good, didn’t I? I cut the cord, and I watched the whole thing, and I didn’t even pass out! I did good, didn’t I?!’"

And also, @itsme_mrsp:
"During one of the most intense parts of my last labor, I was contracting maybe every two minutes, or even less than that. My husband looked over at me and said, 'Well babe, I'm gonna go ahead and take a nap, so I can be ready.' I still wonder, to this day, what he was preparing for except to watch me push."

For all fathers and fathers-to-be out there, here's a good tip: If you're thinking about doing or saying something along these lines when your partner is giving birth, take a step back and...don't.
The most crucial thing is that you communicate with your loved one and inquire about her desires and needs. Stopping at Blockbuster while on your way to the hospital is not one of them.
No matter how high the late fees are...
