Woman Enforces Daycare Rule After SIL Repeatedly Refused To Follow The Policy

"I reminded her of the policy, no diapers no daycare"

While starting a business with friends or family may first seem beneficial, emotion eventually gets in the way and becomes a significant barrier to the company's success. The business and your family's relationship are frequently ruined by this.

Because we are familiar with, trust, and feel at ease with friends and family, we frequently wish to collaborate with them. It's all well-meaning; we also want to be successful with them.

However, dealing with friends and family can rapidly become quite delicate when things go wrong, which they certainly will at some time in the path of any business. In family enterprises, it is witnessed on a daily basis.

The OP is a home daycare provider, and her SIL "Jenny" enrolled her infant niece "Pearl" in her daycare. The OP has a policy with diapers - she notifies the parents when there are 20 or fewer diapers in their kid's supply.

The OP will communicate this verbally at pickup and through email/text reminders. If the diapers get down to 5 left at the start of a day, and the parent still hasn't brought any, their little one isn't allowed to come until they have brought some.

The OP told Jenny so many times that her daughter's supply was getting low, and her response was always affirmative, but she wouldn't comply. It got to a point where the OP had to enforce her rules despite the SIL's constant excuses.

OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the AH:

I could be the AH because she is kind of right the whole Mom brain thing and that it's easy to make mistakes/forget things sometimes when you've got a baby to look after.

Serving your clients and investors is your responsibility as a business owner. You have to make difficult choices that are best for your business in order to do that.

If everyone isn't on the same page, doing something with family or friends becomes really difficult. The OP is only enforcing the rules of her daycare and Redditors supported her decision.
