“Well-Known Celebrity” Is Looking For An “Almost 24/7″ Personal Assistant, And Her Ridiculous Job Listing Has Gone Viral
Who wouldn't want a job like this?
Some job listings are so over the top that they stop feeling real, and this one is a perfect example.
A listing for a personal assistant to a "well-known celebrity/influencer with 10+ million followers" recently went viral after New York Times-style reporter Taylor Lorenz shared screenshots from the Entertainment Careers website. The role came with 24/7 availability, a requirement to stay "emotionless," and a long list of duties that stretched from cooking and cleaning to pre-production and post-production work.
Then there was the pay, $25 to $30 an hour, with "minimal days off." That combination was enough to send social media into a frenzy.
New York Times-style reporter Taylor Lorenz tweeted screenshots from the Entertainment Careers website where the job listing was originally posted
entertainmentcareers.netThe requirements are… (what's a politically correct word for insane?)
entertainmentcareers.netThe long list of tasks and job requirements made this job post instantly viral. It spread like wildfire on social media, as people were astounded that someone would put themselves through such evident suffering for, once again, a job that pays $30 per hour.
Here are some of the comments on the job post:
What kind of part-time position requires 24/7 availability? That negates the "part-time" nature of the job.

This person is not impressed.
This feels like the pet-sitting standoff where you debated refusing to walk the neighbor’s hyperactive dog.
Well, now that it is out in the open, others jump at the opportunity

Hundreds of tasks, and being a butler is one of them...

Nope, Clifford The Big Red Dog is nice
@ACShilton
Unfortunately, the opportunity to bask in the light of a celebrity is just too tempting for some people. They are volunteer slaves.
@latikambourke
It really does sound like a dream job. For a masochist.
@JordanUhl
Be with a client all day? How is that part-time? Well, they say that time is relative...
@TeaSpillYT
Must be driven by fame... other people's fame...
@EddieRobson
The job listing was later withdrawn from the career site, leaving us wondering if it was because the position was filled or because someone from the influencer's entourage realized how ridiculous it was. We certainly hope it was the latter option because the very thought that someone was willing to do all this for such a meager wage, just to be close to a "celebrity," makes us lose whatever faith in humanity we had left.
As they say, "one man's garbage is another man's treasure," and some people may view this as an opportunity of a lifetime.
That listing was never going to stay quiet for long.
