20 Photos So Chilling They'll Keep You Up All Night
You will be sleeping with the lights on.
A 28-year-old woman kept catching the same eerie pattern in her photos, like the house itself was trying to get her attention. It started with a night shot where her dog wouldn’t stop staring at one spot in the room, and then it spiraled into a series of images that don’t feel like “oops, bad lighting.”
Some of these pictures come from real moments, not spooky movie setups. There’s the night her father’s memory showed up in a familiar shirt, a doorway where a shadowy figure never sits but always stands, and a baby monitor alert that sent one daughter running to check on her dad. Then there’s the trip to Jeffrey’s Cliffs in Hawesville, KY, and a stop at the Pirate House where a hallway photo showed up after a dinner that was supposedly haunted.
By the time you get to the empty hallway and the monitor notifications, you’ll start wondering who, exactly, was watching who.
1. A Visit from Her Father
This photo was taken by my friend, who decided to capture it because her dog kept looking at this part of the room. Her father had recently passed away. She recognizes him by this specific shirt. The photo was taken at night with all the curtains closed.

Reddit3. Standing in the Doorway
This doorway, the one right above, also has the bathroom doors. He LOVES standing in the living room right in front of the couch but NEVER sits on it. On occasions when there are lots of people, he makes himself known by briefly showing himself, freaking everyone out who catches a glimpse of him.

6. Stranger in the Background
My mom sent me this photo a couple of years ago. It was taken by someone she knows at Jeffrey's Cliffs in Hawesville, KY. They claim that nobody else was there when the picture was taken. I assume it was taken on a phone. This place was only recently opened to the public in 2018, and this photo was taken around that time.

8. Checking on Her Loved One
Her daughter was sitting at her kitchen table eating a snack when she received a notification on her phone from the monitor she had set up in her dad's room to keep an eye on him due to his health. The notification indicated that movement was detected, and she realized it was her mother checking on her dad herself. He passed not long after. Maybe she was telling him to come with her.

10. In a Dark Hallway
My family and I went to eat at the Pirate House, and we were told that it was haunted. After dinner, we decided to walk around a little and take pictures just to see if anything would pop up. We didn’t expect much but thought it would be fun either way. When I looked through my pictures from the trip, I found this photo. It was taken in a hallway… a completely empty hallway. I used a Motorola Droid. This photo has been unedited except for a little cropping.

It also reminds me of the neighbor who lost a cat, but the bond made it hard to give back.
11. Unfamiliar Face in the Mirror
Full story: Over six years ago, my ex-girlfriend went to Malacca, Malaysia, for a holiday with her husband and two kids. After checking into the hotel room, the youngest child (3 years old) kept crying and subsequently fell into a fever. In a family group chat, they asked if they had reached safely. She took a snapshot of the TV while in bed to send to the family, saying she was now chilling and watching TV. Her brother pointed out the strange thing in the mirror. They freaked out and demanded to change rooms. Fortunately, the youngest child recovered from the fever afterward.

12. Lurking in the Background
My friend had recently moved into her new place in downtown Charleston, South Carolina. When her dog hopped up on the chair, she thought it was adorable and sent me a photo. Several months later, her girlfriend noticed something strange in the back of the hallway while she was alone in the house with the doors and windows locked.

The dog staring in the dark is weird enough, but the moment the photo is tied to her father’s specific shirt, it gets personal fast.
While the living room doorway “visitor” keeps popping up for a quick scare, the baby monitor scene turns the fear into something heartbreakingly real.
After the notification that movement was detected, the daughter checking on her dad basically confirms the house was acting up again, right when it mattered most.
Then the family dinner at the Pirate House and that completely empty hallway photo hits, and suddenly the whole collection feels like one long chain of sightings.
If you're in the market for a new home, it's a good idea to take photos of as many areas in the house as possible. Doing so can help you identify if anything evil is lurking in the house.
