So I'm (30M) working on a project with my colleague, let's call him Alex (28M). We decided to work late one evening and I offered to order some food.

I knew Alex had a mild allergy to shellfish, but I really wanted some shrimp fried rice, so I ordered it anyways. Before placing the order, I casually mentioned that I was getting seafood.

Alex said he would just skip dinner, so I assumed it wasn't a big deal. During our meal, Alex mentioned he could smell the shrimp and started coughing a bit, but he didn't say anything directly about his allergy.

I didn't think much of it at the time. The next day, Alex texted me saying that he had a reaction to the shrimp particles in the air, his throat was itchy, and he had to take antihistamines.
