Angry Dad Criticizes Clothing Trends for Sexualizing Young Girls
And he is absolutely right...
Being a parent involves plenty of worrying. However, we worry differently about our boys and girls.
We fear our sons will get into trouble and fight, but when it comes to our daughters, every parent’s worst nightmare is that their girl will be sexually harassed. And that’s a fact.
In today's world, sexism is a significant topic. We tend to talk a lot about it, but do very little, or at least that's how it seems.
The very fact that we still have to raise awareness speaks for itself. It should have been eradicated by now.
Whether or not we have personally experienced sexism, it is undeniable that it impacts various aspects of people's lives all around the world. Many individuals have faced gender discrimination at some point in their lives, whether at home, work, or school.
People frequently believe that anything so contentious could only happen to adults. However, this isn't entirely true.
"9 out of 10 young girls report experiencing sexual harassment, and the majority also say they've heard discouraging comments about their academic and athletic abilities," according to one study.
Dads are sharing instances when they noticed their own daughters being subjected to sexism, gender discrimination, or over-sexualization in a new TikTok video trend that has gone viral.

@world.shaker, a father and TikTok user, has gone viral for his perspective on the situation.
The father reacted to a viral prompt asking fathers of daughters to explain the moment they learned that sexism exists or that the over-sexualization of women begins at a young age.

Michael Vaughn expressed his thoughts in a video that has been viewed nearly three million times.
"It was 100% the clothes. I knew it was going to be bad, but I didn't realize how bad. Then we got a onesie for our daughter that says: 'Sorry, boys, Dad says no dating' — sized for a newborn," he said.

According to Michael, girls' clothes are a significant part of the problem.
"Why does everything have ruffles? Why is everything hyper-pink? Why is everything glittery? Why can't I just find a one-piece bathing suit for my daughter? Why are girls' clothes smaller than boys' clothes when they're the same size?" Michael questioned.

Michael also questioned why manufacturers market so many "tight" and "small" models.
"Like, I don't understand why boys get normal shorts while my daughter gets shorts with an inseam of negative two. We actually buy boy pants for our daughter because girl pants are like sausage casing leggings.I'm not squeezing a baby back into sausage casing every single diaper change. So, it was 100% girl clothes. Girl clothes are the worst," he added.

Many TikTok users agreed with Michael's perspective on girls' clothes.

One parent even stated that the clothes made for boys are of better quality.

Sadly, everything this dad says is true. Social networks promote unrealistic body images, and it’s hard to explain to a teen that the photos they are seeing are products of heavy makeup, professional photography, and extensive image alteration via Photoshop.
The best way to combat this is to raise awareness. However, talking only to girls is not enough.
We spend so much time teaching our daughters how to behave, while in fact, we should be teaching our sons to respect girls and women, regardless of their age.
