30 People Reveal Devastating Secrets That Would Destroy Lives If They Ever Leaked Out
A secret is a double-edged sword where you're on both ends simultaneously.
Keeping secrets is the most difficult job on the planet. Sometimes the secrets you keep haunt and hurt you, but there's nothing you can do to ease the pain.
You can't tell anyone what's bothering you, and you can't seem to forget it either because it loops in your subconscious mind. While it's great that someone trusts you with their secrets, it's the heaviest task you can undertake for a loved one.
That said, do secrets remain secrets forever? Not likely.
The bigger question is, should secrets remain secrets forever? No.
There's a reason why people are urged to share their secrets: it helps lessen the load on our subconscious minds. This isn't to say that people should not keep secrets.
They should, of course, but there should be a healthy way to unload the mind. It's true that there are some secrets you can't share with others, and when that happens, maintaining a journal and talking it out anonymously helps lessen the weight.
Journaling is the best way to keep secrets a secret and yet feel less burdened by what you carry in your mind. The challenge, then, would be to keep the journal away from prying eyes and itchy fingers.
That should be easy, though. Two Redditors who go by the names I_LIKE_YOU_ and daddydempy created posts to invite people to share secrets they know that could potentially ruin someone's life.
You're not going to believe some of them.

To be honest, some of these secrets are downright scary, and I can't imagine the burden the person keeping the secrets is carrying. I would have repeated some terrifying secrets, but that's like adding salt to an open wound.
The thing with secrets is that they're like open wounds somewhere in your brain that you can't heal, bandage, or forget. It's scary, but someone trusts you to carry the load.
As I said earlier, some secrets cannot be shared, and that's okay, but if you maintain a journal and write things down, you'll feel much lighter. The idea is to keep your presence of mind while helping prevent a catastrophe in another person's life.
It's an enormous responsibility, honestly.
