Disney World’s Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Has a Likely Return Date, but Disney Still Hasn’t Officially Announced One

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will close Nov. 2 at Magic Kingdom, with Dec. 18 now appearing as a possible reopening date.

Magic Kingdom visitors finally have a clearer idea of how long Tiana’s Bayou Adventure may be down this holiday season. The catch is that Disney has only confirmed a December return window, while a more exact date is showing up through the resort’s calendar.

A December target is showing up for the ride and gift shop

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is scheduled to close at Magic Kingdom on November 2, 2026 for what Disney has described as a routine refurbishment. The attraction’s nearby gift shop is also set to close the same day.

What changed is the likely end date. Disney had already indicated that the ride was expected back sometime in December 2026. Now, Walt Disney World’s operating calendar is showing hours for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure beginning Friday, December 18, 2026, and that same date has also been tied to the shop’s return.

That does not amount to a formal Disney announcement of December 18. Publicly, Disney’s attraction page still points only to a December reopening window. Because of that, the exact date is better treated as a current target than a locked schedule. Refurbishment timelines can shift, and the calendar entry could reflect an internal date rather than a final one.

If December 18 holds, the closure would last roughly six and a half weeks, putting the ride back in operation shortly before Christmas.

Why fans are watching this closure closely

The timing matters for guests visiting Magic Kingdom from November 2 through early and mid December, since they should plan trips without Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and without the attached merchandise location.

It also matters because this is the attraction’s first refurbishment since opening on June 28, 2024, when it replaced Splash Mountain. Since debuting, the Princess and the Frog inspired ride has been associated with reported reliability concerns, including downtime, Audio-Animatronics that were seen not moving as intended, visible repairs, missing figures, limited movement, and damaged scenery.

Disney has not publicly tied the upcoming refurbishment to any specific technical problem, and it has not announced a reworked story, a major ride-system change, or a list of fixes. For now, the practical takeaway is simple: the ride goes offline November 2, Disney says it will return in December, and December 18 is the date currently appearing for guests to watch.
