There are many things Americans are proud of, and rightfully so. The United States is a very rich nation in which most individuals enjoy a high standard of living and unprecedented freedoms.

Scientists from all over the world want to study at U.S. institutions. Hollywood produces the most complex, highest-quality films on Earth. Americans are also very proud of their military might, and rightly so.

However, the dominance of the United States in the world is not just about material wealth; it's also about status and influence. Americans like to think they rule the world—could it be true?

Well, hold that thought. While Americans may seem like they reign supreme because they live in a place where everything is almost known around the world due to the spheres of Hollywood and other industries, there are a great number of them who seem... well, underdeveloped.
