The FdB Awards is one of the most important events on the calendar for wedding photographers. Four times a year—every three months—an international panel of judges selects the most impressive wedding photographs from around the globe.

FdB stands for Fotografos de Boda in Spanish, which translates to 'wedding photographers.' These prestigious awards showcase some of the most touching wedding snapshots you will ever see.

The FdB Awards website describes the awards as "a tool that pushes photographers in their evolution." It also states that wedding photos serve as a "source of inspiration for couples."

In the most recent round, judges Mona Wu from China, Alison Bounce from France, and Huy Nguyen from the USA selected some of the most remarkable images to represent the absolute best in wedding photography.

From loving, sweet, and heartwarming memories to funny, silly, and surprising moments, the judges have chosen some incredible shots. The locations are pretty exciting too—from mountaintops to underwater shots, the winning photographers have done it all!

Martino Buzzi is the director of FdB. He explained a little about why the group was started.

"My name is Martino Buzzi, an Italian photographer living in Spain," he said. "I am the director of FdB, a group that was created to give more value to photographers and help them improve their skills."

"We organize an annual meeting where speakers share their experiences. We also organize photo exhibitions where wedding images are considered real art pieces."

So, why did Martino decide to start a competition? "Wedding photos are a true expression of real people's lives," he said.

"This kind of photography is the only one that captures real moments of the most important day of a couple's life. It is the most valuable kind of photography since it helps people remember happy moments."

"Submissions are gathered from the photographers who are part of the association," Martino said. "Being part of FdB is easy; you just have to prove you are a wedding photographer with enough experience."

Martino says the FdB awards have become very popular among wedding photographers. "We receive around 2,000 images every round of the awards," he said.

What makes wedding photos so important? "Wedding photos are so important because they tell the story of our family," Martino said.

"Surely you have seen some images of your uncle or aunt that were wedding photos. Telling the story of your family helps to maintain a connection with your roots."

Martino spoke about what makes a great wedding photographer. "Good wedding photography is made up of good light, great composition, and a decisive moment," he said.

"We value artistic photos, but overall emotion is the most important ingredient. Personally, I love when a photographer can tell a story from a different point of view, making it original.

Patience is key. "A good wedding photographer must be patient and wait for the right moment to shoot," Martino said.

"It is essential to understand the bride and groom's emotions. Of course, they need good technical skills to capture the photo as quickly as possible since good moments usually pass very fast."

Martino shared some tips for anyone wanting to be a wedding photographer. "To someone who wants to be a wedding photographer, I would say: Practice a lot and bring your camera with you wherever you go," he said.

"Try doing some street photography; start practicing with kids while they move around. Also, you can practice fashion photography since the bride with her dress will love this kind of mood... never give up!"

Martino hopes that the FdB Awards will inspire and motivate more people to get involved in the art of wedding photography. "I truly hope wedding photography receives more consideration among the general public," he said.

He also hopes that it will educate people on the importance of hiring a good quality photographer for their wedding. "I see so many people who want to hire the cheaper photographer, and they regret this decision."
