Friends Refuse to Help with Trip Planning, Am I Wrong to Step Back?
AITA for stepping back from leading a group trip after being left with all the planning responsibilities and receiving no support when I needed it most?
A 28-year-old woman refused to keep being the unpaid trip planner for a group of friends who loved the idea of the mountains, but somehow never loved the work part. She had it all handled, bookings, activities, the whole weekend laid out like a Pinterest board come to life.
Then life hit, she got sick days before the getaway and asked someone to take the lead. The response was basically nothing, just silence. So she canceled the trip, because apparently she was the only one who could handle a calendar and a confirmation email.
Now the friends are mad, saying she ruined their plans, and Reddit wants to know if she overreacted by stepping back.

I (28F) love planning trips, it's my thing. Recently, a group of friends asked me to plan a weekend getaway to the mountains.
I gladly took charge, spent hours researching, booking accommodations, and planning activities. As the trip drew closer, everyone seemed excited but no one offered to help, assuming I had it under control.
Days before the trip, I got sick and asked if someone could take over leading. Silence.
No one stepped up. Feeling overwhelmed and unappreciated, I canceled the trip, telling them I couldn't manage it alone.
Now they're upset, saying I ruined their plans. So Reddit, AITA for putting my foot down and refusing to take charge after being left with all the planning?

This also echoes an AITA where a work emergency forced last-minute changes to a group getaway.

She did hours of research and booked everything for the mountains weekend, while her friends treated her like the trip planning app that never needs a break.
The moment she got sick and asked for help leading, the silence showed up louder than any group chat notification.
When she canceled the whole trip after being left holding the bag, her friends suddenly remembered they had opinions about “ruining plans.”
Now it’s a blame game, and the question is whether stepping back after weeks of one-sided effort makes her the bad guy.
