30 Hilarious Memes And Tweet Reactions To The Shutdown Of Internet Explorer

So long, we will miss hating you, Internet Explorer.

After 27 long years of people complaining about its performance, as well as the thousands of memes created in memory of the experiences that came along with it, Internet Explorer has finally met its end and officially retired on June 15, 2022. The browser was first released in 1995 as part of the Microsoft Plus! package for Windows 95, and it was one of the technological advancements that kickstarted the birth of generations of developers who worked on various operating systems.

Microsoft intentionally made Internet Explorer difficult to uninstall, so people had no choice but to deal with it in the initial stages and use it patiently to download other, more efficient, and reliable browsers. There are even some websites that can only be viewed in this particular browser, so even though it has its shortcomings, we can't deny that it still feels different (though not necessarily in a good way) compared to the newer ones.

Even if it wasn't necessarily fast and reliable, Internet Explorer is famous for the nostalgia it evokes, and it remains one of the most used browsers, despite people having a love-hate (well, more on hate) relationship with it. It has been set for retirement because Microsoft is now paving the way for its more updated version, Microsoft Edge.

People weren't exactly devastated by the news, but we aren't really rejoicing over the death of this iconic browser, either. After all, it played a significant role in our childhood when the Internet was still in its infancy.

Now, people have decided to cope with the news in the most 21st-century way possible: with memes. Check out some of the best ones below!

Ah, recalling how we used to endure those long minutes of waiting for Internet Explorer to load triggers memories of innocence and a time when the Internet wasn't what it is today. We may not be fans of IE, but we can't deny the many memories it brought to most of us who grew up alongside the birth of the Internet.
