These Photos Are The Ultimate Proof That Sailor Moon And Goth Mix Well

Sailor Moon has inspired fan art for decades, but this California studio took the fandom in a much darker direction. CineCosu Studios turned the classic magical girls into a goth fashion editorial, and the result is equal parts eerie and eye-catching.

The shoot brought together cosplayers, photographers, and a very specific visual mood, with each scout reimagined through black-clad styling and horror-inspired details. It is a striking twist on a beloved anime, and the final images make the crossover feel surprisingly natural.

Here is how the goth Sailor Scouts came to life.

Dominique Zamora, CineCosu’s art director, says: “We borrowed motifs from witchy media like American Horror Story: Coven and The Craft to create something dark, creepy, and hopefully powerful.”

In addition to the cosplayers, the team included 14 photographers and assistants.
