Hairstylist Makes His Clients Embrace Grey Hair and Its Grandeur, Instead of Trying to Cover Grey Roots
Amazing transformations that not only look good but also empower women.
It all started three years ago when a woman walked into Jack Martin's California hair salon and wanted a change. She had been dyeing her hair from gray to chocolate every three to four weeks for years.
Having retired and started to enjoy the great outdoors, she wanted to save as much time as possible—not spend it on hair treatments. Jack Martin took it as a challenge, and they immediately began brainstorming ideas.
Ultimately, they decided to dye her hair silver. This would give her natural gray shade a little more polish, allowing her to visit salons less frequently.
When the process was complete, the woman was thrilled with the results. Martin was too. He posted this transformation on Instagram, and the post garnered a lot of attention. Martin's salon was soon filled with clients who wanted the same transformation.

"My clients with natural gray hair come in two or three times a year, instead of every few weeks," Martin told Allure. The transformation is not just about stunning new looks but also about the empowerment that beautiful gray hair brings. Martin typically performs these transformations in one ten-hour-long session.
He described the process on Instagram, explaining that it starts with applying a color extractor to eliminate any remaining artificial color. Then, while protecting the gray roots, Martin bleaches the rest of the hair to prepare it for the new silver pigment.

Next comes the vital part. The hairstylist creates a new color scheme based on the hair's natural gray pattern. His clients usually come in with three to four inches of their hair roots grown out, allowing him to analyze the natural color scheme. He then recreates the scheme on the entire head of hair.
"Some clients have salt and pepper mostly in the front, while the back is darker, so I match that and add some dark to it," Martin said.
