Scarlett Johansson, The Highest Grossing Actress Of All Time Has Just Lost Her Title To Another

Her work with Marvel and Star Trek also helped her climb the list

Hollywood has a new queen bee, and the profits from her filmography surpass the market capitalisation of multibillion-dollar corporations like H&R Block and Alaska Airlines. Scarlett Johansson's position as the highest-grossing actor of all time has just been overtaken by another celebrity.

Given that Johansson has starred in several iconic films during her remarkable career, it should come as no surprise that she has held this distinction since last summer. Particularly in the past ten years, the actress has starred in Black Widow, Jurassic World Rebirth, and The Avengers trilogy.

Johansson is currently ranked second on the list with $16.4 billion, which is obviously not a bad place to be at all, according to industry publication The Numbers. According to the publication, the following films have contributed to her record: I see a pattern here:

- Avengers: Endgame ($2,717,503,922 in 2019)

- Avengers: Infinity War ($2,048,158,241 in 2018)

- The Avengers ($1,515,100,211 in 2012), and

- Avengers: Age of Ultron ($1,395,316,979 in 2015).

Captain America: Civil War ($1,151,899,586 in 2016), The Jungle Book ($950,697,998 in 2016), Jurassic World Rebirth ($869,145,138 in 2025), Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($714,401,889 in 2014), Sing ($631,064,182 in 2016), and Iron Man 2 ($621,156,389 in 2010) - these movies also made it to the list.

However, someone else has taken the top spot. The actor in issue is Zoe Saldaña, who became the highest-grossing actor of all time as of January 12, 2026.

The accomplishment comes just after the 47-year-old Oscar winner's film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, made an incredible $1.23 billion at the box office worldwide, increasing Saldaña's total earnings to $16.8 billion. The sci-fi series began in 2009 when Saldaña was just 31 years old, and she is scheduled to star in two more films until the fifth and last one is released in 2031.

Although her list of highest-grossing films is dominated by the Avatar films, her work with Marvel and Star Trek also contributed to her ascent. The website lists the following:

  1. Avatar ($2,923,706,026 in 2009)
  2. Avengers: Endgame ($2,717,503,922 in 2019)
  3. Avatar: The Way of Water ($2,322,902,023 in 2022)
  4. Avengers: Infinity War ($2,048,158,241 in 2018), and
  5. Avatar: Fire and Ash ($1,231,139,287 in 2025).

The other three celebs in the top five, Chris Pratt in fifth place, Robert Downey Jr. in fourth, and Samuel L. Jackson in third, all have ties to Marvel. Tom Cruise currently holds sixth place, followed by Chris Evans in ninth, Vin Diesel in eighth, and Chris Hemsworth in seventh.

Thanks to his roles in Moana and Jumanji, among others, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson completes the top 10. Leave your thoughts about this selection in the comment section below.
