Photographer Uses AI To Picture What These 10 Late Celebrities Would Look Like If They Were Still Alive

Alper Yesiltas has turned a long-running creative question into a striking photo project, using AI tools to reimagine what late celebrities might look like today. The Istanbul-based attorney and photographer has spent years exploring memory, loss, and possibility through his work, and this series, called "As If Nothing Occurred," brings that idea into sharp focus.

In these images, he looks at familiar faces like Heath Ledger, Freddie Mercury, Janis Joplin, and Michael Jackson through a different lens, while also extending the project to other icons such as Kurt Cobain, John Lennon, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Lee, and 2Pac. The result is part tribute, part visual experiment, and it clearly comes from a deeply personal place.

The photographer has been anticipating the advancement of AI technology for a while now, as he believes that “anything imaginable can be shown in reality.”

“When I started tinkering with technology, I saw what I could do and thought about what would make me the happiest. I wanted to see some of the people I missed again in front of me, and that’s how this project emerged.”
