Margot Robbie Admits She's Disappointed She Didn't Get to Kiss Ryan Gosling in the Barbie Movie
"I was like, 'I know, I can’t check that one off my list.'"
Barbie is finally in theaters, and the real drama is not the pink overload or the cinematic chaos, it’s the one scene that never happened. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling spent months selling that Ken and Barbie energy, yet somehow the movie leaves them in a near-miss zone when it comes to kissing.
In Greta Gerwig’s film, Margot plays the “Stereotypical Barbie” doll who leaves Barbieland to hunt for answers in the real world, while Ryan steps in as Ken with that effortless heartthrob charm. The chemistry is obviously there, the crowd can feel it, but the script never cashes in on it. Margot even admitted she was disappointed, saying her girlfriends could not believe they never got a kiss, while Ryan joked that he was relieved the kissing idea never made the final cut.
So yeah, the movie delivers everything else, but the one moment fans were waiting for got cut.
After what feels like a lifetime of anticipation, Barbie is finally in cinemas.

Margot admitted in a recent interview that she's disappointed she didn't get to kiss Ryan.
"All of my girlfriends were like, 'Well, you did a whole movie with him and you don’t kiss?'" the actress said."What’s wrong with you? I thought you were kind of in charge on this one!" I was like, 'I know, I can’t check that one off my list.'"

Ryan, on the other hand, was relieved that there were no kissing scenes.
"It was so funny trying to figure out what their idea of kissing might be," Ryan said. "I’m so glad all of that got cut out."

But while there's no making out, there is plenty of singing, dancing, love, and (of course) pink throughout the Barbie movie.

When Margot Robbie said her girlfriends were basically like, “You did a whole movie with him and you don’t kiss?”, the internet immediately started doing math on that missing moment.

That’s when the whole Barbie plot gets even more interesting, because Barbie’s big trip out of Barbieland comes with singing, dancing, and love, just not a single smooch between her and Ken.
Then Ryan Gosling chimed in about trying to figure out what “their idea of kissing” even looked like, and suddenly the cut scene feels less like a loss and more like a punchline.
By the time you’re staring at all that pink, flawless costume work, and the movie’s surprisingly meaningful storyline, you realize the film found a different way to make the chemistry land.
We think you'll love the Barbie movie just as much as we did! With its endearing characters, fun costumes, and surprisingly meaningful storyline, it's everything we were hoping for and a whole lot more.

Now everyone’s wondering what Ken and Barbie would’ve done with one tiny kiss, if the movie had let them.
